What is EasySell?
EasySell is a bulletin board style service for classified advertisements and online shopping, just like an electronic newspaper. Classified advertisements are free. We provide additional options for featuring your ad. Just register and place your ad. You can set a selling price, or just accept bids for as long as you wish until expiry date of your ad. Your ad stays for three calendar months unless you remove it, or we remove it because you are in breach of our terms. The anniversary date is the same day, three months later of your placement (e.g. If you place your ad on 12 June, it expires on 12 September).
It's EasySell! To advertise items using EasySell you will need to register an EasySell user account. Registration is fast and totally free! For help on registering an account see our How to register section.
To browse or search items for sale no account is needed! Browse the categories from the EasySell homepage or try our Search page.

Registration and Accounts
How to register an EasySell Account?
Registering a user account with EasySell is easy and completely free! To access the registration page click the Register link on the EasySell homepage. On the registration page you will need to do the following:
- Create a unique EasySell username for your account. (Note: Should you type a username which is already in use a message will appear prompting you for a different name.)
- A few personal details.
- Your email address. (Note: It is vital that you keep this information up to date. This is the only way for EasySell to contact you. Please refer to How to change your account details page for information on changing your details)
- A password for your account. Your password needs to be a minimum of 6 alphanumeric characters (no symbols). (Note: Your password is strictly confidential and EasySell are unable to see the password you create.)
- Agreement to the Terms and Conditions covering use of the EasySell site. Important: Use the link to read the Terms and Conditions before creating an account. Feel free to contact EasySell Customer Service (information@EasySellAmerica.com) should you have any questions.
You are now ready to sell the EasySell way!
How to Login to my EasySell account?
To sell items using EasySell you need to register an EasySell account. Registration is completely free! To register a new EasySell account see How to register an EasySell Account.
To Login to your EasySell account:
- Click the Login link on the EasySell homepage.
- Enter your EasySell username and password and Click Login.
You are now logged into your EasySell. Read the Buying or Selling sections for further help.
I've lost my username/password details
How to recover your username/password details?
- Click the Login link on the EasySell homepage.
- Click the forgotten? Link.
- Enter your Username first and click on the 'go to step 2' button
- Enter you E-mail address and click on the 'go to step 3' button.
- Answer your security question and click on Send my new password.
- An email will be sent to this address, containing an activation link and username and new password. Click on the activation link to activate your password. You will be directed to the Login page where you can use your username and new password.
How to recover your username details?
- Just write to us via information@EasySellAmerica.com to recover your username.

How to change your account details?
You can update your EasySell account information using your My EasySell account page.
- Login through the Login link on the EasySell homepage using your account/password details.
- Click the My EasySell button to access your account page.
- Click the My Profile link.
- Update your personal details and/or email address and click the save button. (Note: It is vital that you keep this information up to date. This is the only way for EasySell to contact you.)
- You can also use this page to change your password at any time. See Changing your password.
Changing your password
You can login and change your password to your EasySell account at anytime.
Use the following steps to change your password:
- Login through the Login link on the EasySell homepage using your account/password details.
- Click the My EasySell button to access your account page.
- Click the My Profile link.
- Under the Change your password section you need to enter your current password and the new password and click the Change password button.
Your new password is effective immediately.
Changing your security question
You can change your security question at any time.
Use the following steps to change your security question and answer.
- Answer your current security question.
- Use your password.
- Create a new question and answer and click on change security question button.
Your new security question is now changed.
How to close your EasySell account?
You can login and close your EasySell account at anytime.
- Login through the Login link on the EasySell homepage using your account/password details.
- Click the My EasySell button to access your account page.
- Click the Delete My Account link.
- Under the Delete My Account section you need to enter your current password and the verification code and click the Delete Profile button.
Buying
How to Search for items?
Searching for items to buy is Easy with EasySell! Click the Search button on the EasySell homepage to access the Search.
Our simple to use search engine allows you to search with the following options:
- Categories: Use the Category and Sub-category boxes to narrow your search to a specific category.
- Term: Enter specific words to search for the desired item. Make the search as specific or as broad as you like. (e.g. 1985 Toyota Corolla or Toyota).
- Maximum Price: Only search items within your desired price range. (TIP: EasySell has a Make an Offer option on its Ads. When using the Maximum Price search criteria it pays to search higher than you wish to pay - You may make an offer and get a great deal!)
- Location: Choose to see Ads in your local area only or nationwide.
- Date: Narrow your search by length of time placed.
- Type of Ad: Search by type of Advertising (e.g. For Sale, Make an offer etc)
- Only Ads with Photo(s): Check box to filter Ads without Photos.
Alternatively, if you have already seen an item and have its Item number you can search for it using the number only.
How to ask the seller a question?
Interested in an item for sale on EasySell but need to know more? Under every Ad listed on EasySell there is a link 'I want to know more about this item!'. Clicking on this link will bring up a simple box underneath the Ad for you to send a question to the seller. Make sure your contact details are correct so the seller can respond directly to you. The seller will respond by email unless you include your telephone number if you wish to be contacted by phone. Once your question has been sent you will get a screen confirming that an email has been sent directly to the seller.
How to buy an item?
Ready to buy? There are two ways to do it:
Make an offer
- On each Ad page there is a Make an Offer section. Simply enter your name, Email address and the amount you are willing to pay. When you click Send an email will be sent directly to the seller with your offer.
I Wanna Buy It
- Using the I Wanna Buy It link under each Ad you will be taken to a form where you can type a message to the seller to arrange to buy the item. Make sure you enter your name and email address in the relevant fields so the seller can respond to you! See the Tips for safe buying section for more information to make a great purchase!
Tips for safe buying
As EasySell only acts as online classified advertising and online shopping (like a newspaper), it is important that buyers use some common sense rules when buying items advertised on EasySell.
- Buy from local sellers. Go and meet the seller and inspect the item before purchasing. Any seller who refuses to meet you should be avoided.
- Confirm the items details. Contact the seller and ask any questions you may have about the item before arranging the sale.
- EasySell does not offer any form of guarantees, sale protection or get involved in the payment/delivery cycle in any way. Any claim to the contrary is false!
- Ask for a receipt. Ask the seller to provide a receipt for the item purchased as proof of the transaction. Include all serial numbers etc.
- Use a payment method both parties feel comfortable with.
- Trust your gut. You should feel comfortable with all the terms of the sale. Don't make a purchase if anything 'doesn't feel right'.
- Be cautious of implied warranties. Most items purchased on EasySell will be sold 'as-is' - meaning their will be no warranty. Items sold by reputable dealers may have a warranty and it will be up to your judgement whether this can be trusted. Remember, EasySell does not make any guarantees regarding the seller whatsoever!
- Report any illegal/fraudulent activity. EasySell will take any reports of fraudulent or illegal activity very seriously and will act according to our Terms and Conditions.
- Back to number 1! It is very difficult for someone to scam you when you can physically inspect and collect the item purchased!
How to make an offer?
On each Ad page there is a Make an Offer section. Simply enter your name, Email address and the amount you are willing to pay. When you click Send an email will be sent directly to the seller with your offer.
Selling
How to place an Ad?
Placing an Ad on the EasySell site is Easy! Simply click the Place an Ad button on the EasySell homepage. You will then be prompted to login to your account. If you do not yet have an EasySell user account go here to register (free!).
Once on the Place an Ad page you will need to do the following:
- Select the type of ad. See the Types of Ads section for further information.
- Select the right category to list your item from the Categories and Subcategories available. (Note: You may have to select multiple Subcategories to get to the correct category for your item. Further Subcategories will appear automatically after each selection until the final subcategory is reached)
- Select if you want to place your ad in your web shop or not. If you have a web shop already you can click on the name of your shop and the ad will be place in the category that you have chosen plus in your web shop.
- Create a title for your Ad. First choose on what basis you want to make your transaction (For Sale, Make an Offer, By Negotiation, Wanted, For Rent, etc. Create a title for your ad (Maximum 150 characters). Tip: For best results, try to keep the title as simple as possible giving the vital details example: 1985 Toyota Corolla Hatch Great Condition!!
- Mention a price. You can only fill in an amount if you have chosen a basis of For Sale, For Rent or For Lease. You can also add the period that something is leased or rent for!(Eg An apartment for rent $500 per month) If you have chosen Wanted, By Negotiation, Free, Make An offer you cannot use the Price Box.
- Registered Businesses must indicate whether GST is included!
- A detailed description of the item. Put as much detail about the item as possible. This will give the best chance for finding potential buyers! If the text editor is not visible then this means you have java script turned off, to turn this on please see Technical Requirements section below
- Contact Details. You can add Email address and/or Phone number. You can also link your Ad to your website if desired.
- Select the location of your item.
- Terms and Conditions - Check the box to agree to EasySell's Terms and Conditions.
Now you are ready to add Photos. (Note: EasySell does not recommend placing Ads without photos) Photos give your buyers confidence in their purchase of your item!) See the How to add photos to your Ad? section for further help.
How to add photos to your Ad?
To add photos to your Ad, simply click the Add Pics button at the bottom of the Place an Ad page. This will take you to EasySell's easy to use Edit Photos and Video page. All Ads placed with EasySell may have up to 8 photos attached. (Important: For featured and premium Ads, the first photo added will be the one used in the additional sections. All other photos will only appear in your Ad page.) Photos cannot be larger than 1Mb in size and must be in one of the following formats: jpg; jpeg; gif; bmp; gif and png. For help on resizing your pictures, see Resizing your Photos.
Once your Photos are the right size for attaching, simply enter the filename/path for your photo (or use the browse button to select) and click the Upload button. This may take a moment to upload. Once uploaded, your photo will be displayed. You can upload several photos at the same time.
Resizing your Photos
EasySell recommends using the free application Picture Resizer. N.B. To resize your picture it must be in .jpg or .jpeg file format. You can download it on http://www.rw-designer.com/picture-resize
The instructions for using Picture Resizer are simple:
- Download the .exe program file to your computer by clicking on
http://www.rw-designer.com/NT/2.0/PhotoResize400.exe, e.g. On your desktop.

- Simply highlight the .JPG file(s) you wish to use in your Ad. Drag and drop them onto the Picture Resizer .exe file. (Note: Yes, you can do many photos with a single drag and drop!)
- If you get a Windows Security Open File message, click the run button.
- Once the photo(s) have been resized you will get a DOS screen which you need to press Enter to exit the application.
- Your photo(s) have now been resized and will be saved in the same folder with the extension -400 added. You are now ready to add them to your Ad!

How to edit your Ad?
To edit your Ad, you first need to access your My EasySell via the button on the EasySell homepage. Listed under the My Active Ads section are all your current listings on the EasySell website. Click the Edit button on the Ad you want to change. This will take you to the Edit page where you can now change any part of your listing and/or add photos through the Add Pics button. For help on adding photos, see How to add photos to your Ad. Once you have made changes to your Ad, simply resubmit and confirm your Ad like when originally placed. The changes will be applied immediately!
How to respond to potential buyers?
Buyers will contact you via one of the contact links on your Ad. This will send an email to your registered email address. It is then up to you to respond to the buyer directly. EasySell does not have any further involvement in the sale from this point. We expect sellers to respond to all emails received from buyers in a timely and professional manner to maintain the integrity of both the seller and the EasySell service.
How to relist your Ad?
Should your item not sell during the time listed you can simply relist the item through your My EasySell Account page, without having to start all over again. Find the Ad in the list of Active or Inactive Ads and click the relist icon. It is that simple! During the introductory period, this will change your Ad expiry date for another 90 days absolutely free!
Types of Ads
EasySell offers a few options which will determine how much exposure your Ad gets. The options are as follows:
Basic
- Your Ad is listed in the category you select for a period of 3 months. You can add up to 8 pictures on your Ad.
Featured Ads
- All the features of a Basic Ad PLUS your first photo will appear on the lower section of the homepage AND at the top of the Category while browsing (shown on a continuous loop). The photo will act as a hotlink when clicked leading directly to your Ad.
Premium Ads
- All the features of a Featured Ad PLUS your first photo will appear at the top of the EasySell homepage on a loop, guaranteeing the maximum exposure for your Ad. The photo will act as a hotlink when clicked leading directly to your Ad.

EasySell's fees
Classified Basic Ads are absolutely free.
There is no further follow up or charges from EasySell. There are small fees for Featured and Premium Ads, and Webshops.

I'm a regular seller, I need a Webshop!
What is a Webshop?
Anybody can have their own Webshop in the EasySell WebShops Market. You can compare a webshop with a one page website, where you promote your business or your items. Just a personal shop!
EasySell Market offers the following advantages:
- Your Webshop is viewed by all the potential EasySell buyers. This means high visibility for your shop! All your Ads are in one place and also accessed via the main search categories.
- If a buyer searches for an item, they will also get the relevant items in your shop. Your Webshop can have your own personalised logo, slogan, photos. You can also write a description about your shop. You can direct your customers straight to your Webshop
What kind of Webshops does EasySell offer you?
You can choose between Basic, Nature, Earth and Water. You can see that the background colors and the layouts vary. Just choose the webshop that best matches your personality or the things you sell.

How to create your Webshop?
To create your own Webshop, you need to be registered. If you aren't registered yet please do this first. See How to register an EasySell Account?
If you are registered please Login first. When you are logged in go to your My EasySell account by clicking the button on the EasySell Home Page located under the logo.
In My EasySell Account section, click the link Create My EasySell Shop to start.
On the Creation page, click the Edit Webshop button to enter your details. You can personalise your webshop by adding the following: Your company name and contact details, a slogan, a description of your webshop; an GST number (if required), the category in which your items would mainly appear, and a logo (or photo) for your shop. You can add 5 photos to your Webshop. Each picture/photo is limited to 1Mb. If you need help to resize your logo picture see Resizing your Photos.
Once you have filled in your details and added your logo, click the Preview button to Preview your personal webshop. You may Edit your webshop further or Confirm your new Webshop, when you will be redirected to the payments page.
After payment, your Webshop will now be added to the EasySell WebShop Market and you may choose to place your Ads within your Webshop. They will also appear in the standard browse/search functions. Be sure to use keywords in your free Ad that someone may search under eg; Mikes Motorbike Shop should ensure the word motorbike, and key brands of bikes for sale appears in the free Ad.
Managing your Webshop
By entering your webshop through My Account and clicking on the My EasySell Shop link, you can edit your Webshop details/logo; see all your current Ads and Place more Ads. This is now your Shop on EasySell!
Technical Requirements
EasySell.com uses cookies to remember login and search data, make sure you have cookies turned on in your browser.
The website is optimized for Internet Explorer 5.5 or later, Netscape 7.1 or later, Mozilla 1.4 or later, or Mozilla FireFox 3.0 or later, or Safari 2.0 or later, or Opera 9 or later.
Enable JavaScript - Internet Explorer
In Internet Explorer 6/7 you can check to see if JavaScript is enabled by navigating to the Custom Security Settings that are somewhat buried.
- Click on the top of the page Tools menu
- Choose the Internet Options.. from the menu
- Click the Security Tab on the Internet Options pop up
- Click the Custom Level.. button to access your Security Settings
- Scroll almost all the way down to the Scripting Section
- Select the Enable button for Active Scripting
- Click OK to finish the process
- Click Yes when asked to confirm
Enable JavaScript - FireFox
In Firefox 2 you can check to see if JavaScript is enabled by navigating to the content settings under options.
- Click on the top of the page Tools menu
- Choose Options.. from the menu
- Click the Content Tab in the Options pop up
- Make sure that Enable JavaScript is checked
- Click OK to finish the process
Enable JavaScript - Opera
In Firefox 2 you can check to see if Java Script is enabled by navigating to the content settings under options.
- Click on the top of the page Tools menu
- Choose Preferences.. from the menu
- Click the Advanced Tab in the Preferences pop up
- Select Content from the list of items on the left
- Make sure that Enable JavaScript is checked
- Click OK to finish the process
